If you’re an animal owner who treats your pet like just another member of the family, then chances are they might sleep with you. And if they sleep with you, then sometimes (OK, all the time) they can take up a lot of room, leaving you with a sliver of precious mattress space, no blanket and difficulty breathing as they lay across your head. Which usually results in aches, pains and stiffness so, needless to say, it can get a little annoying. But we love them anyway.
To relieve the tension, a New York couple came up with a brilliant idea. Mariesa and Chris Hughes of Clifton Park, N.Y., run The Mr. Mo Project, a senior dog rescue named after their late, beloved dog. It’s their mission to save senior shelter dogs around the United States.
But because they’re so busy saving dogs, they all needed a place to sleep. So, the couple put an ad online asking for a clever craftsman to build them a super-sized bed that could fit their family of 10. That would be them and their eight dogs: Mabel, Gremlin, Meatball, Tejas, Money, The Stig, Sam and Quinn.
“I wake up and I think, ‘This is incredible. I’m like a contortionist with Stig spooning me and Gremlin between my legs and Sam sharing my pillow,'” Mariesa joked to ABC News. “They love it. They love to just be near us. So however we can make that happen, they’re happy.”
That’s love, right? Their entire life is already admirable and inspiring so it shouldn’t be surprising that Chris and Mariesa went above and beyond to make things more comfortable for not only themselves (though we’re sure they’re loving all the extra room) but for their dogs too. Well done, Hugheses. You deserve this awesome bed.
