It’s fairly obvious that we all come in different shapes and sizes; that’s why the idea of a “one-size-fits-all” article of clothing is pretty outdated. Yet we continue to purchase things that are either an awkward fit in the tummy, too tight around the thighs, or way too short to be any kind of appropriate.

There’s a reason they say to tailor all your clothes to a custom fit – because that’s how they’re going to look the most fabulous on you. But let’s be honest: who has time to go to the tailor once they’ve already gone through the strenuous exercise of finding the perfect outfit? If it’s a special occasion, maybe. But for everyday wear? Nah.

That’s why we positively love the way Fame and Partners, an upcoming fashion brand from Australia, is changing the game.

Founded by venture capitalist Nyree Corby, the mass-customized women’s wear brand lets you customize your articles of clothing before they’re even shipped. Furthermore, not only can you give the company your measurements and pick out your size and colour, but you can also decide on a dress or skirt’s length (from three varying sizes), in order to truly get clothes that speak to you.

Okay, sure. So the idea of ordering custom clothes is actually an old one. After all, that’s how they used to do it waaaay back when. But these days thanks to high costs and mass production needs, most articles of clothes range in the small to XL categories.

That’s what makes Fame and Partners so cool – Corby and her partners have figured out a way to produce customized outfits on a production line, and with less staff and waste. Roughly 60 per cent less waste, actually, than a typical manufacturing line.

Although how they’re managing to accomplish this is still under wraps, we think it’s a great step in the right direction. After all, shouldn’t we embrace all kinds of body types? Why do we need to make sure we fit into a company’s predetermined size-range? Aren’t we all tired of fitting into one store’s size six, only to be a size eight at another store? Especially when meanwhile you’re a size seven, and neither store even offers the option.

So with sizes ranging from 0-22 and orders received between seven and 10 business days (with free shipping to Canada, might we add), we’re more than willing to shell out the $199-349 price range for some of these bohemian inspired styles.

Because fashion that looks great and we can feel good about? Well that is just a beautiful thing.
