Let’s face it, there are those of us who hear that morning alarm and cringe at the thought of getting out of bed. And that’s on a good morning. Then there are others who can’t wait to take on the day. The ones who wake up with a smile on their face, hop out of bed with a spring in their step, open the blinds and are ready to conquer anything that’s put before them. Take Ron Alston, for instance. Not only is he one of those guys who starts off his days right, but he’s passing those positive vibes to his three-year-old daughter, Aliya.

Ron and Aliya have a morning routine they do daily, and it’s an inspiration for all of us who hit our snooze button half a dozen times this morning.

Ron pumping up Aliya with his mantra, and her giggling and increasingly confident responses are amazing, right? For kids, repetition is key and getting her to repeat after him will have her believing it. We all need to tell ourselves every now and again, “I am strong. I am smart. I work hard. I am beautiful. I am respectful. I’m not better than anyone. Nobody’s better than me. I am amazing. I am great.” And like, Aliya, we’ll be believing it too.
