Oh Canada, one month you’re colder than the inside of Grandma’s icebox, a few months later you’re hotter than Bradley Cooper’s scruffy beard (that’s hot!). If you don’t have at least two space heaters and three fans stashed away in your closets there’s a good chance you’re not actually Canadian. (Go check your passport, we’ll wait.) And if you live in a drafty, old house like I do, there’s a good chance you have space heaters and fans going at the same time; true story.

Enter the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool. At first glance it’s a beautiful fan/heater in one. One product for two jobs. Yes, that’s a thing, and it’s super cool. But it’s more than that, as you might have guessed from the “Pure” part of its name. The Dyson Purifier (as it is known to our faithful assistant Alexa) is also a powerful HEPA filter, capable of filtering dust, pet hair, pollen and gases like NO2 and benzene (that’s your candles). You can run it on auto (try–or don’t–burning your cast iron pan on the stove and watch how fast the Dyson goes into action, filtering out whatever it is you just put into the air), or turn it on and off with its own remote, or, our preferred method, its own comprehensive app.

Things we love about it? The purifier comes first; in a house with two cats, one dog, two kids and a person who burns things, there’s great peace of mind in knowing something is cleaning up behind us. The air you breathe is important, yo. The app that details what’s been filtered and has a history of your daily air quality is a cherry on top. And speaking of the app, sitting on the couch and turning on a fan or heater and directing it to your precise location? Yeah, that’s a dream. Seriously. The LCD screen that tells you at a glance what’s going on with your air is convenient as heck, and yes, it is very, very pretty, not gonna lie, that matters.

WHO IT’S FOR:

Every Canadian who breathes air, gets hot or gets cold.

HOW MUCH?

$650

WHERE TO FIND IT:
