Let’s be honest: when it comes to celebrity gossip, we’re all a little guilty. So it’s no wonder that many tabloids attempt to make mountains out of molehills when it comes to potential celeb couplings, femme-on-femme feuds or band break-ups. That’s exactly what Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters have been dealing with lately, and their response to the entire situation is pretty freaking brilliant.

Speculation that the band is splitting up has been going on for a while now, first when the HBO documentary Sonic Highways debuted (Grohl did most of that publicity solo), and then following reports that drummer Taylor Hawkins was upset over Grohl’s plans to release some solo music. Most recently speculation surfaced again during the Oscars, when Grohl performed “Blackbird” over the In Memoriam montage.

But all of that doesn’t mean the band is even close to breaking up — and the members are sick of denying it. So they did what any good band would do and notified everyone that they had a very important announcement, via Twitter.

Official band announcement tomorrow night. Stay tuned.

So what was the big announcement? A seven-minute video playing into the entire thing with a little bit of a vaudeville style. It starts with some of the more ridiculous headlines and social media gossip, before launching into the group looking for replacements for Grohl. They throw out names like Justin Bieber, Gwen Stefani and even Drake before settling on an audition from Nick Lachey which is — predictably — terrible.

For his part, Grohl begins his own solo career in the video, which equally disastrous results.

The bottom line? These guys are sticking together for a while yet, and anyone who says otherwise can just go to heck.

Check out the hilarious video, above, and judge this ongoing bromantic love for yourselves.
