Sometimes, gifts can make a whole world of a difference, especially for people who are struggling with their mental health. That’s why CAMH (The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) founded Gifts of Light — practical, meaningful presents that meet the unique needs of patients at CAMH.

How does it work? Pick a gift you want to give a patient, and CAMH will send a card to your loved one (printable, e-card or via snail mail) telling them that a Gift of Light has been purchased on their behalf. CAMH will then give your selected gift to the CAMH patient who needs it most.
What kind of gifts are on offer? A whole lot. The most affordable are books ($21), which can be so beneficial to one’s mental health. “Books are vital to education, imagination, and knowledge about the world. They can deliver a moment of calm, help change perspective or illustrate new ideas.”
Not into that? $70 can give someone a care day (restoring confidence in a patient through a shave, haircut or manicure), $35 can give someone winter woolies, $36 can provide some much needed pet therapy, $45 will provide pajamas and slippers, and $39 gets a patient something hand-picked especially for a them by a member of staff.
WHO IT’S FOR:
Someone who wants to give a little extra this holiday season.
WHERE TO FIND IT:
Tis the season to be jolly (and a bit stressed from shopping, list-making, cooking and more shopping). But don’t get yourself too worked up, because we’re here to help you cross those names off your list one day at a time, one gift at a time. From now through December 24, we’re wrapping up daily gift ideas, Monday through Friday, so you can get back to more important festive pursuits, you know, like drinking eggnog. We’re going to make this so easy, you’ll want to shop this way every year.
