When it comes to childbirth, the spotlight is usually on the mom, rightfully so. But let’s give the dads out there a little love. The ones who are in the room, cheering on their partner, rubbing her back, talking her down, picking her up, whatever he has to do as they get ready to welcome the life they made together into the world. It’s a great moment.

Sometimes.

But other times it can all be a bit much for dads-to-be. We know, we know, it’s not him pushing out a watermelon through a golf-ball sized hole but he’s got a role in this too. Like Jive Ria, who was holding the hand of Alisha Baxter as she prepared to pop out their daughter. He was probably doing everything that was asked of him but it’s the face he made while doing it that every dad recognizes and can appreciate.

This. Face. Whether he was trying to drown out Alisha’s yelps of pain or she was squeezing the crap out of his hand, you just know at that second, the sounds and sights were becoming too much. The look is basically, “OMG, THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING!” Or maybe it’s just “Mommy, help!”

But all the face-scrunching and finger-squishing was worth it. Congrats Alisha and Jive. Your daughter, Blakely, has quite the parents.
