It’s not like we didn’t know it was coming, we knew it was coming—Jack’s brother has been teased for a while now, in the season 2 episode “Brothers” and later in “The Car”—but we didn’t know who it, or he, was going to be. Well, now we do.
Michael Angarano, of Will & Grace and I’m Dying Up Here fame will joining the Pearson family as Jack’s brother in season three of our favourite family drama, This Is Us (returning Tuesday, Sept. 25 on CTV).
i am beyond grateful and very excited to be a part of this show – my grandmother even told her dentist. https://t.co/WZaG3hFjVz

After Milo Ventimiglia‘s revealing February Esquire interview we got the distinct impression that Nicky was actually alive, in some timeline at least.
“There are so many questions with Jack. His upbringing, what happened to him in Vietnam, what happened to him after Vietnam before he met Rebecca? And those early days of Jack and Rebecca, I know is an era that Dan is excited to explore. His brother, I think is something that’s going to come up relatively quickly, and play out over the next season or so. There’s still so much to know about this man, from all the eras, so I’m excited to focus on how Jack lived as opposed to worrying about how he died.”
Pair that with showrunner Isaac Aptaker’s revelation that, “We are going to be spending a lot of time in Vietnam“—not to mention the season 2 finale that saw Kevin and Zoe on a flight to Vietnam–and we’ve got a solid impression of where we see season three going.
Whether the past will be left in the past though is the burning question. Is Nicky actually still alive in the present? It’s a whole other Pearson family mystery we can’t wait to dive into.
Bring on season three!
