No show loves a time hop more than This Is Us (returning January 15 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV), and during the Season 3 fall finale, we finally got confirmation that Beth makes it into the future. It’s so rare to get a sigh of relief from This Is Us, so we’re going to take a moment to enjoy it. Now Susan Kelechi Watson, who plays Beth Pearson, is revealing what else we can expect from future Beth. Spoiler, she’s still fierce.

In the time hop showing Beth 20 years in the future, we learn that she now owns a dance studio and appears to be the holder of the Pearson family favourite, Pin the Tail On The Donkey. But are she and Randall still married? For many fans (raises hand), the future of the seemingly unbreakable couple’s marriage has been a point of concern.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Watson says that the upcoming episode will explain how Beth went from working in corporate America to owning a dance studio.

“Now people will know why, and it won’t feel like something so far removed from what she was doing when we learned it. That’s what she always wanted to do,” says Watson. “We’re going to get the full story, and it’s about where she goes from here. Now that we know what’s been bothering her, what’s been in on her mind, and where she finally wants to go, now what is she going to do?”

As for whether Beth and Randall stay together, Watson says that the upcoming episodes will reveal more about the couple’s future. “We’ll find out more. I can speak to this moment that they’re in, and there’s no easy resolution,” says Watson. “I would describe it as emotional. If I can describe it.”

So, we’re gonna cry.

The season three fall finale of This Is Us left fans with more cliffhangers than the status of Beth and Randall’s marriage. There was also the confirmation that Jack’s younger brother Nicky was very much alive and living in Pennsylvania. As for how charged the reunion with Nicky and the rest of the Pearsons would be, Watson doesn’t downplay it.

“I think that would be very charged. Because you wonder why Jack kept him from the family. You wonder what about the dynamic was so bad because Jack had this alcoholic father, and he didn’t talk to his dad, either; you find out that Jack stopped speaking to his dad, so you really want to know. So what is it going to be? What would it be like? And does Nicky know about Jack’s family? So all these pieces are just in the air.”

This Is Us returns on January 15 with new episodes every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on CTV.
