In a gunpoint robbery, one wrong move can cost you everything.

That’s why it’s not everyday someone is actually able to record the traumatic experience on video. But for a Vancouver man who recently visited Argentina, the whole thing happened by accident.

Alex Hennessy was cycling on a tour through Buenos Aires with his GoPro camera running when a man on a motorcycle suddenly cut into his path. When Hennessy tried to pedal around the motorcycle, the man cut him off again.

That’s when the man, without warning, pulled out a gun. He wanted Hennessy’s bag, which was full of camera equipment.

In a split-second decision, Hennessy pretended he couldn’t understand what the man was saying, and made a run for it. In what’s probably the most terrifying scene in the video above, the thief starts to chase him.

“I thought he was going to shoot me there,” Hennessy said.

Luckily, all the commotion attracted the attention of the rest of Hennessy’s tour group and he managed to get away. As for the thief, he was arrested a short time later.

Talk about the souvenir of a lifetime. Check out the video above.
