Neil Patrick Harris teamed up with Funny or Die to show people just how much love he has for Thomas the Tank Engine. Billed as a “Special Celebrity Guest” for the Fan Day Celebration (coinciding with Thomas’ 70th anniversary), it seemed he and the children sitting on a carpet in front of him shared a lot in common.

Until a bullet train to Crazy Town pulled in and only NPH boarded.

See, Harris is a hard-core Tankie and when the kids weren’t impressed by him or how serious he takes Thomas, he went bananas on the adorable youngsters. After getting annoyed at them about Thomas’ exact colour (blue vs. cerulean) and which kind of train is the fastest, then arguing about who knows the most about Thomas and Friends, Neil quickly became steamed.

And it all goes to hell when one of the sassier boys inadvertently calls Neil a “diesel,” resulting in NPH going completely off the rails and sending some of the kids off crying and running to their parents.

Chugga-chugga-cuckoo.
