When Paul Heroux recently learned that his dog, Mura, had terminal cancer, he decided to make the most of the little time they had left together. How? They went on a road trip across North America.

Their journey began on September 21, when Mura walked over to Paul while he was working and fainted. He immediately brought her to the vet where he learned her spleen had ruptured and she was bleeding internally. She had surgery, but Paul later learned she had terminal cancer and only had about one to three months left. Paul cancelled a trip to the Middle East that was already booked and instead began planning a trip to meet Mura’s Vancouver-based breeder, whom he had never met.

On their trip, they visited 24 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces. They stopped at Niagara Falls, Mt. Rushmore, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park. T
