Lashes are tricky: Most of the time, our mascara coverage isn’t even, and we’re left with those gross clumps everywhere. They’re basically Mary Poppins-esque soot stains, except they’re clinging to the tiny hairs around your eyes.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. For a clean, full, beautiful lash, there are only two things you need to remember: smush and pull.

Hold your mascara wand at a 35-degree angle and then prod the lashes in in a smushing motion toward the inner corner of your eye. And then, when you feel there is adequate coverage, you pull the lashes back out. You can repeat as desired but you’ll notice your lashes looking better than they ever have.
