Season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy (Wednesday’s at 9 p.m. ET on CTV) has added some new faces, including Dr. ‘Link’ and Dr. Nico, as well as some returning faces, including Dr. Teddy Altman and Dr. Tom Koracick. While we knew these surgeons would bring with them the inevitable love triangles that Grey’s loves so much, we didn’t expect new friendships. Finally. Few shows do friendship quite like Grey’s and it’s nice to see people getting new persons.

CTV

The first friendship we are loving this week is Meredith and Link. It was a bumpy road, with Meredith first questioning Link’s trauma-ready pose, then questioning his ability as an orthopaedic surgeon. It turns out that you can eat chips while waiting for an ambulance and know more about your specialty than the brilliant Meredith Grey. Shocking, we know. Also, now we want chips.

CTV

After the two spent most of the day in the Operating Room shooting Jo dirty looks for ever suggesting they should date, Link and his Thor-ness helped Meredith throw a superhero party for her son Bailey. About every three episodes we remember that Meredith has kids, and this week’s episode was kid-friendly. The pair are finally getting along, but we’re still not seeing sparks. Unless there are friendship sparks. Then we’re seeing them. Meredith now respects Link for being a former cancer kid who is a great surgeon and Link respects Meredith for running a department and a house with three children. We’re sure they both find one another objectively good looking, because duh, but we’re still Team DeLuca in this triangle.

CTV

Moving on to Teddy, Owen spends most of the episode mad at his former best friend because she waited five weeks to tell him she was pregnant. We’ll ignore the fact that he declared his love and slept with her while still wearing a sweater that smelled like his wife. Cool. Amelia and Maggie (in a supporting role) are also mad that Teddy took so long to tell Owen about the pregnancy because…nope. We’ve got nothing. What would be the difference? Owen and Amelia may not have gotten back together? If that’s the case, shouldn’t they be happy that Teddy didn’t tell Owen?

CTV

As usual, Teddy was forced to spell it out for Owen, enlightening him regarding his jerk-ness. Maybe it was the brain trauma from passing out in the OR, but Owen finally ‘got’ it and gave Teddy his job in order to entice her to stay in a country with no maternity leave instead of going back to a country that actually gives a damn about mothers (sorry not sorry for the rage tangent). Teddy and Owen are finally friends again, but they’re not the only ones exchanging necklaces with a heart cut in half.

Tom and Teddy have a nice moment near the end of the show that involves French fries. Finally, someone is treating this pregnant woman like the Queen she is. We are kinda loving Tom and Teddy as friends. As an aside, where does Tom work? Like, everywhere? Does Catherine Fox just throw a pay cheque in the air each month and he needs to be within five feet of her at all times to catch it?

CTV

Lastly, there are the residents. We haven’t seen much from them this season, aside from a very inspiring coming out storyline with Specs, sorry, Dr. Schmidt. Not only is Schmidt feeling himself after successfully keeping Owen out of a coma, inspiring another hook-up with Dr. Nico (in the very safe and appropriate on-call room), his confidence is extending in his friendships with Helm and Casey.

CTV

Nothing says bonding quite like helping someone who is terrified of touching their own eye put in a contact.

CTV

Also, this situation is going to get really, really bad, isn’t it? Bracing ourselves for the upcoming sobfest.
