When you think of kid’s birthday parties what comes to mind? Probably a mass of junk food, from candy to pizza to French fries to cotton candy and soda pop. You can bet you’ll find at least one of these items at a child’s birthday party. But what if the host parent had all of these options, and then some?

Creating a smorgasbord of deliciously greasy treats; one mum did just that and has garnered quite the backlash for it. So what’s all the outrage about?

A New Zealand mother shared the fast food spread she put together for her daughter’s seventh birthday on Facebook. “My girl’s seventh birthday party. Kentucky fried chicken, cheeseburgers, Thai food, pizza,” she wrote in the caption.

It didn’t take long for critics to complain about her choice of food. Some called the party a “diabetes birthday” and said that the spread could cause a heart attack. One individual’s concern was due to the fact that New Zealand has a tremendous obesity problem, and this party does nothing to help the situation.

But the mother didn’t mean to upset anyone or cause any harm. It was a well-intended gesture for her daughter and her friends.

That’s where the fast food lovers, who wished they’d received an invite, came to the mother’s rescue. A fan of the food spread jokingly said, “I’ve never seen anything so beautiful in my life.”

Birthday parties wouldn’t be the same without some unhealthy treatsespecially a kid’s birthday party. Would you be in outrage if your kid went to a birthday party like this, or is it okay every once in a while?
