Everyone knows that one of the worst parts of travelling is having to lug your suitcase around with you in a crowded airport. After all, they call it luggage for a reason! But thanks to a new invention currently soliciting funding on Indiegogo, the world of luggage — carry-on luggage specifically — just got a little easier to navigate.
Advertised as the “world’s first smart, connected carry-on,” the Bluesmart is a nifty little suitcase with big ambitions. Not only can you control the locking mechanisms from your phone, but you can also weigh it, track it, and be notified if you accidentally leave it behind.
Maybe the days of those hard-to-find luggage scales are over after all.
What’s that? You want it to do even more? OK, how about the fact that it can also charge your smartphone, six times over? Say farewell to the days of searching airport lounges high and low for a viable outlet. Or one that isn’t in some dank corner with a pile of weary, power-seeking travellers huddled around on the floor. The Bluesmart also has neat little storage areas for your electronic devices, which makes taking your laptop out for the pre-screening process OH-so-much easier.
Clearly the designers have been in an airport or two before.
So far the campaign has raised nearly a million dollars, but there are still sponsorships for purchase. For example, you can nab yourself one of these carry-on bags for a mere $235 US (plus shipping & handling). That’s $215 less than what the estimated retail price will be. Or, if you’re feeling particularly generous/into the product, you can nab yourself a pair of them for $490 US.
