Advent is upon us, which means it’s that time of the year where we fidget with tiny cardboard doors that bestow us with small treats all in anticipation for Christmas. Yes, it’s Advent calendar season, folks. And there’s no shortage of them, either. From extravagant makeup themed ones to ones filled with tea, you can bet that there’s an Advent calendar for everyone. But what if we took a sweeter, kinder, more thoughtful approach to our countdown to the 25th? That’s what Canadian mom Maran Stern-Kubista decided to do with My Kindness Calendar.

“My Kindness Advent Calendar helps you countdown to Christmas during the month of December, but instead of getting a chocolate or toy, each day is an opportunity to give an act of kindness.” The kit — which comes with one reusable My Kindness Advent Calendar, 25 Kindness Stickers (featuring suggested acts of kindness), and five customizable Kindness Stickers (for personalized acts of kindness) — will inspire you to give this season. With prompts like “Give a Hug”, “Plant Something”, “Make Dinner as a Family” and “Donate to a Food Bank”, these little acts of kindness will teach your children compassion, unselfishness and gratitude.

Though the calendar is made up of premium-quality fabric-based wall decals and can be reused year after year, at $70, it doesn’t exactly come cheap. Not willing to shell out the cash? This could definitely be a sweet little family DIY. For those who aren’t as crafty, or just can’t fit it in (the holidays are a busy time, we get it), this one’s always a click away.

Tis the season to be jolly (and a bit stressed from shopping, list-making, cooking and more shopping). But don’t get yourself too worked up, because we’re here to help you cross those names off your list one day at a time, one gift at a time. From now through December 24, we’re wrapping up daily gift ideas, Monday through Friday, so you can get back to more important festive pursuits, you know, like drinking eggnog. We’re going to make this so easy, you’ll want to shop this way every year.
