Ever wander into a restaurant or store and question how sanitary it really is? If not, you may want to start doing so.

When a photo of a rat having the time of its life inside of a food warmer in a Malaysian 7-Eleven store first appeared on Facebook (see above for photo), the entire world cringed. Rats carry a whole slew of germs and disease. So this is one furry critter you absolutely do not want near your food — or near you at all for that matter.

And if you haven’t already found the extreme irony in the photo, we’ll let this Facebook user point it out:

7-Eleven Malaysia did respond to the Facebook photo in an attempt to repair their now damaged reputation.

“Please be assured, this is an isolated incident as we have certified quality assurance audits and regular pest control steps in place to prevent such occurrences,” wrote the company. And while we’re sure the company didn’t intentionally expose their food to rats, their promise of it being an “isolated incident” isn’t very convincing.

According to Noor Hisham Abdullah, the Director General of the Malaysian Health Ministry, there was no trace  of a rat infestation in the store. But still…  would you really blame us if we steer clear of food warmers for the next little while (or forever)?
