Take a look at your watch. It’s tick-tick-ticking away, and life goes on. Second by second, minute by minute, your watch is keeping time. It gets you to the church on time, it reminds you when you’re horrifically late for work and it’s an indicator that every moment in life is fleeting. Basically, clocks suck and we take it for granted, but hey, it’s what we’ve got.

So, this watch band from Crown and Buckle ($21) really spoke to us. How can a watch band speak to you, you’re probably wondering? Well, the reasons why are heartbreaking. It all started when Mike Werb (@mikeswatches)’s wife, Jaclyn, was diagnosed with breast cancer just eight weeks after giving birth to their first son.

As you may imagine, that kind of news does not sit well, especially after experiencing one of life’s greatest joys. It’s the news you don’t want to receive, sure, but Mike and his wife decided to fight it with everything they’ve got. As Jaclyn battled through chemotherapy, Mike, who is an avid watch collector, came up with the idea to sell watch bands for the cause. He partnered with Crown and Buckle to create this unisex band, with proceeds going toward cancer research. It’s his way of doing something to show the world that he wants to kick cancer’s ass. And we wish him all of the luck in the world.
