Jell-O has been popular for a very long time. It was the foundation for many aspic salads in the 1950s, which look really gross. It was also a company that hired Bill Cosby to sell its pudding. But now, in 2015, it’s a way to colour your lips, at least according to Korean beauty company Chosungah.
Before you get too wigged out, you aren’t being asked to rub Jell-O powder all over your lips until they are dyed.
The brand has made a product that is half-lipstick and half-balm, which is ever-so-lightly scented. It’s semi-translucent (like Jell-O), and made with vitamin E and argan oil.
It’s not quite a lipstick, and it’s not quite a lip balm. The company recommends using it to layer over your favourite lipstick for a bit of extra pop. It also just looks really cool.
Currently, there are only four flavours: “Jello Orange;” “Guava Tint Orange;” “Chai Tea;” and “Vanilla Berry.” And they retail for about $24 at Birchbox.
It’s J-E-L-L-Oh, just another new and sort-of weird product in Korea that’s about to get really popular in North America.
