Imagine this scenario. Your significant other gets down on one knee and begins to propose. You’re shocked, emotional. There are millions of thoughts racing through your mind.

Then your partner pulls out the ring and — it’s definitely not the beautiful ring you were expecting. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

This situation became a reality to a woman who shared a photo of her engagement ring on Facebook and expressed how much she disliked it. A screenshot of the original post was shared on Reddit.

She writes, “He pulled it out of his pocket and it took just about everything in me to not laugh and question whether this was real life or not”.

The downside of it all? The not-so-beautiful ring was a family heirloom and had belonged to her partner’s grandmother.

Some Reddit users were very angry at her reaction, suggesting her partner shouldn’t even marry her. Others blamed her partner for his poor choice in rings.

What would you do in this situation? Sometimes, does emotional significance outweigh aesthetic when it comes to engagement rings?
