It’s a new month so why wouldn’t Thomas Markle give another interview to the press about his daughter, Duchess Meghan? And if your insides are screaming, “OMFG, THOMAS MARKLE DID ANOTHER INTERVIEW, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS MAN?!” you are not alone. While many would say that in the past he’s gone too far, he may have really stepped in it this time around. To the point where there may be no coming back for him and he may have just wrecked his relationship with Meghan for good. If he hasn’t already, that is.
“My thing about my daughter right now is that I think she is terrified,” he told The Sun on Sunday. “I see it in her eyes, I see it in her face and I see it in her smile. I’ve seen her smile for years. I know her smile. I don’t like the one I’m seeing now.”
He may be her father, but she looks pretty darn happy to us most of the time. Like here greeting fans with hubby Prince Harry.
Or hanging out at Wimbledon with sister-in-law Duchess Kate.
Or being her usual radiant self on an outing with Queen Elizabeth II.
“This one isn’t even a stage smile — this is a pained smile.” Hmm, not sure which one he’s referring to with this comment. Maybe her and Harry ringing a bell in Ireland because one can only muster so much enthusiasm when ringing a bell.

Thomas did try to excuse it, saying that his daughter “might be just having a couple of bad days,” but had to add that he’s worried and believes “she’s under too much pressure.”
And just for good measure, he got in a couple more jabs at the royals, of course.
“There’s a high price to pay to be married to that family.”
Markle then went to slam the dress code, of all things. “Meghan seems like something out of an old movie. Why in 2018 are we dressing like the 1930s? Why do they have to cover their knees?”
And those dreadful staged photos that came out a week before Meghan and Harry’s wedding came up again, because some outlets just can’t get enough.
“I’m not blaming Harry or anyone, but they are following rules that don’t make sense to me,” he said. “They are no less human than anybody else. God knows I feel sorry for them for not being able to show emotion. The reason I am being shunned is because I made a profit on the staged pictures. Anyone who makes a profit off the royal family becomes shunned. But I could have made well over $100,000 by just doing a talk show. So if I moved to London and started selling cups with my daughter’s face on, would they shun me? The royal family is living by rules that are outdated.”
Sigh. The man clearly has no filter, but we’re sorry to say it gets worse. Much, much worse.
“I had a heart attack, doesn’t anybody care? I could actually die soon. Does she want this to be the last thing we’ve said to each other?” Ahh, nothing like a little emotional blackmail to bring a father and daughter together.
But again, there’s more.
“It is probably the longest time I have gone without speaking to her ever,” Thomas told The Sun. “I just want to clear the air and tell her how proud I am of her. If I had one message for her it would be that I’m sorry for anything that went wrong. I’d like to put our differences behind us and get together. I miss you very much.”
He added: “The phone number I had been calling Meghan on is no longer picking up. And I don’t have an address for her. I can send something to the palace, but there is no guarantee it would get to her. I sent a text to my palace contact saying I would like to reach my daughter and got no reply. Being shunned for the rest of my life? That’s not going to happen.”
Thomas runs the gamut from angry to apologetic — without ever making an actual apology. Because him being sorry “for anything that went wrong” isn’t the same as being sorry “for all the sh*t that I’ve put you through.”
And if Markle doesn’t get a response soon, he’s threatening to head to the U.K., he told The Sun. “I don’t care whether she is p*ssed off at me or not … I want to see my daughter.”
UGH. While it would be lovely if Meghan and the rest of the BRF could ignore this man, he does exist and the more they pretend he doesn’t, the more he’s going to talk. Thomas may be your basic PR nightmare but that just means the royals need to handle him as such. They could nip this in the bud once and for all by throwing him a bone and getting the man a little cottage somewhere in the U.K.
And an iron-clad non-disclosure agreement for good measure.
