If you’ve been waiting for more details since the exciting news dropped about the Great White North getting her own version of the Emmy-winning RuPaul’s Drag Race, we’re about to make your day because we’ve got the tea.
A trio of dynamic and diverse judges, hand-picked by RuPaul himself thankyouverymuch, will be determining which queens will shantay you stay after lip-synching for their lives and who will sashay away and they couldn’t be more qualified for the job.
#QueenoftheNorth Brooke Lynn Hytes, actor, activist and frequent Drag Race guest judge Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and America’s Next Top Model alum and runway royalty Stacey McKenzie will take their places on the judges’ panel while etalk’s own Traci Melchor will be Canada’s Squirrel Friend and make fabulous house visits where she will test the queens with mini and maxi challenges and more.
“I’m thrilled to reveal my hand-picked judges for Canada’s Drag Race,” said RuPaul in a press release. “I have complete confidence in their ability to choose Canada’s first drag superstar!”
And Ru knows what it means to be a star. The multi-talented multi-hyphenate took his little show about drag queens, picked up 23 Emmy noms and nine wins since it debuted in 2009 and made it an international sensation, with RuPaul’s Drag Race UK coming to Crave and OUTtv October 3.
And Canada’s Drag Race resident judges are up to the task of bringing all the wig-snatching action up north, whether that means popping into the Werk Room and revealing twists that we’ve come to love and expect from the must-watch competition show or laying down some harsh truths about queens who just aren’t cutting it.
“This is a chance for us to showcase Canada’s unique brand of voice, personality, and presence,” said Stacey McKenzie in the presser. “I am super excited to be a part of the Canadian Drag Race family, and I can’t wait to see our Queens serve and kill it on the runway!”
We can’t either.
