Managing your stress during the COVID-19 pandemic is not something that should be taken lightly. With troubling news always making headlines and the implications of physical distancing weighing down on people, now is time to keep your stress levels low as the world grapples with the virus. Author Carol Baxter broke down three ways to keep your worries and concerns in check during these uncertain times. You can find her tips below.

CREATE A NEW HABIT

Consider adding one new positive habit to your routine every day to reduce stress and elevate your mood. Breathing routines or a simple meditation are both great ideas to create a feeling of calm throughout the day. For the breath exercise, emphasizing our exhale - breathe in for a count of four, exhale for a count of sex - it automatically initiates our parasympathetic nervous system.

MOVE YOUR BODY

Committing to moving your body every day is fantastic for your mental and physical state. Even if it's just for 10 minutes, pick a fitness YouTube video, then head to your backyard to exercise so you get fresh air. Commit to that movement, and you will start to crave it. Bring in something physical for your daily routine that you might not have had time for before. Moving the body releases stress and makes us feel instantly better.[video_embed id='1930828']RELATED: You don't need to hit the gym to do your favourite workouts[/video_embed]

EXPLORE THE WORLD

What's happening in the world is awful, but there is this opportunity to invest in yourselves while physical distancing. Maybe you've always wanted to write something  - go online and get some tips, try some short stories. Have you been putting off learning that new language? Now is the perfect time to do it. Look at your situation as being a gift of time, and use it to do the things you've always wanted to do. Investing in yourself is a great way to stay positive and productive, even while stuck at home.[video_embed id='1931420']BEFORE YOU GO: How to fix your sleep routine while in self-isolation[/video_embed]
