Tiffany and Ivanka Trump are as close as sisters can be. They seem to hang out a lot, take advantage of the cutest Snapchat filters, post pics of themselves doing fun sister things on Instagram — just good ol’ regular sister stuff.
So we thought it was kinda funny that Tiffany’s footwear of choice last week was by Aquazurra — the brand that’s suing her sister for copying their shoe designs. In a picture Tiffany posted with her brother Eric Trump, Tiffany wears the brand’s Christy flat USA flag shoe. So patriotic.
Unfortunately, Aquazurra aren’t that happy with Tiffany’s big sis, claiming that the Ivanka Trump shoe brand copied not one, not two but three of their shoe designs.
One of the most disturbing things in the fashion industry is when someone blatantly steals your copyright designs and doesn’t care. You should know better. Shame on you @ivankatrump! Imitation is NOT the most sincere form of flattery. #aquazzura #ivankatrump Proud of mine #madeinitaly #italiansdoitbetter 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Marc Fisher LTD, Trump’s footwear licensing partner, denies the claims. Their CFO, Matthew Burris, told Yahoo Style: “This is a baseless lawsuit aimed at generating publicity. The shoe in question is representative of a trending fashion style, is not subject to intellectual property law protection, and there are similar styles made by several major brands. The lawsuit is without merit, and we will vigorously defend ourselves against the claim.”
We can’t exactly blame Tiffany for not knowing her patriotic shoes would be so controversial. Perhaps she just wanted really expensive, gaudy sparkly American flag flats and these were the only ones that fit the bill.
Or maybe this is how sisters tease each other, millionaire style?
