There are few things in this world we love more than the charming Timothée Chalamet. He stole our hearts and took TIFF by storm back in 2017 when he and Armie Hammer were shopping around a little film by the title, Call Me By Your Name. He returned last year for Beautiful Boy with Steve Carell, but ALAS, this year he has nothing to premiere at the festival. We thought that meant we wouldn’t see him… but we thought wrong.
Rumour had it Monday that Timmy had landed in Toronto, with only Twitter-word-of-mouth to confirm it until Timmy was spotted FOR REAL at the Uncut Gems post-screening party/Adam Sandler’s birthday party by fellow party-goers and none other than The Weeknd who called him out immediately after finishing his rendition of “Happy Birthday.”

Renée Zellweger at Calii LoveThe trendy Toronto-based restaurant and coffee shop, Calii Love is always a celeb favourite—where else can the stars get a latte with their likeness made in foam? Renée Zellweger made a caffeine stop while doing press for her TIFF film Judy and was as amazed as the rest of us by the skill of the Calii Love baristas. @caliiloveco/Twitter
Adam Sandler—Happy AgainAhead of the Uncut Gems premiere and his 53rd birthday party, Adam Sandler took a moment to relive one of his most iconic roles—Happy Gilmore. Well, sort of. Sandler didn’t hit the ice, but he did shoot some hoops with Toronto Maple Leafs players Auston Matthews and Morgan Rielly. Sandler is a Boston Bruins fan, but it looks like there weren’t any hard feelings. @auston_matthews/Instagram
Idina Menzel does goodSandler’s co-star Idina Menzel was also out and about Monday, stopping by the TheWrap studio for a good cause. All week long, celebs will be signing the Moet & Chandon charity bottle which will be auctioned off by TIFF in support of the Share Her Journey women in film campaign. Idina lent her signature along with the likes of Charlie Hunnam and Gael Garcia Bernal among others.Tom Sandler
Joaquin takes a standAhead of his big night of The Joker premiere and a big TIFF honour, Joaquin Phoenix stopped by an installation at the St. George subway station in support of BeFairBeVegan. He said that he couldn’t make a statement himself, but hugged supporters and agreed with organizer Anita Kranjnc who said he’s “not only a vegan, but an activist.” @Douglas680NEWS/Twitter
Joaquin at Calii LoveA full day of activism and parties needs AMCAP (As Much Caffeine As Possible) so Joaquin too stopped by Calii Love for a refuel. Of course, his latte had a depiction of him as The Joker. @caliiloveco/Twitter
