Naturally there were going to be some pre-Emmy parties in the days leading up to Monday night’s Emmy Awards, and usually they’re not super newsworthy and nothing exciting ever happens at them. But this is 2018. And on Sunday night something actually did go down at one of the parties: Tom Arnold got in a fight with Mark Burnett. An actual physical altercation. Unlike last week’s scrap between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, which was going to happen sooner or later, this one just seems so random.

What’s weirder is that Burnett’s wife, Roma Downey, claims she also got hurt in the scuffle.

That is some quick bruising, no? Tom, however, was quick to call, well, you know.

Alyson Hannigan was also at the event and tweeted that the fight broke out in front of her and that Jeff Probst tried to stop it.

Tom’s OK, though. Just ask Patton Oswalt.

But Tom has been scrounging up witnesses of the incident, just in case.

This fight isn’t so random, though. For years, Arnold has said Burnett has tapes of Trump saying and doing all kinds of gross, unsavory things from their Apprentice days. And now Tom has a new show called The Hunt for the Trump Tapes, which conveniently premieres the day after the Emmys. Perhaps this is just promotion for his show (which is fine because, hey, all’s fair in love and ratings). Tom might be an opportunist but if Mark has the tapes, we understand the demand to see them. For so many reasons.
