A sign of a good friendship is supporting another person even when they’re down. In the case of Tom Hardy and Leonardo DiCaprio’s friendship, this also means throwing a tattoo into the mix just to show how much you believe in the other person.

During the filming The Revenant, 2016’s Best Picture winner at the Academy Awards, the films’ two leads, played by Hardy and DiCaprio had to face off in the period piece, with their characters in a culminating fight to the death. While the conditions of the shoot in Northern Canada were famously cold and brutal, the two actors formed a close friendship, one that is now forever inked on Hardy’s skin.

DiCaprio, at that time a five-time Oscar nominee, bet Hardy that he would earn a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role as fur trader John Fitzgerald. Hardy disagreed, with the two men coming to the terms that whoever was right would get to pick a tattoo to be inked on the loser’s body. Could this be the moment they made the bet? Maybe, or maybe we just wanted to post more pictures of the Hollywood hunks together.

Hardy did earn a Best Support Actor nomination, with DiCaprio finally taking home an Oscar for Best Actor, making him a double winner that night.

Back in 2016, Hardy told Esquire Magazine about the bet and admitted that he had yet to get the tattoo because of DiCaprio’s shoddy penmanship. “He wrote, in this really shitty handwriting: ‘Leo knows everything,’” said Hardy. “Ha! I was like, ‘OK, I’ll get it done, but you have to write it properly.'”

Now two years later, it appears that Hardy has finally gone through with his side of the bet, changing the phrasing to ‘Leo Knows All.’ Hardy posed for a fan selfie with bartender Andrew Calisterio in San Francisco this week with his fresh ink visible. Adding to his already impressive collection of tattoos, the block letters of the new tat can be seen on Hardy’s right bicep, proving he’s not only a great actor, but a man of his word. Plus, we love a bet that ‘forces’ us to stare at Hardy’s muscles. Let’s hope these two reunite for another film soon.
