There’s certain subject matter that’ll score you loads of Likes online. Babies, dogs, silly hats, moms, and even a quality throwback photo. Lucky for us, some of our favourite stars’ posts ticked each of these boxes and more this week.
While in Mexico promoting Kong: Skull Island, Tom Hiddleston tried a sombrero on for size, and looked so stoked, you’d think he was just handed an Oscar. Or a margarita (on the rocks, not blended). Giant silly hat photo: check.
Also beaming with a sense of pride was Sir Patrick Stewart who welcomed a new member to his family: an adorable foster dog named Ginger. Seeing their reactions to meeting one another for the first time is too cute for words twice over. And thrice over. Puppy photo: check.
We also spotted an awesome TBT from Lily Allen (throwback photo: check), Carrie Underwood’s baby son laughing uncontrollably (baby photo: check), Selma Blair doing her best Tony Hawk impression (mom photo: check), Emma Watson paying it forward book club style, and Paris Hilton demonstrating why she should be in the sequel to the all-female version of Ghostbusters.
These famous faces are more than just pretty, they’re gosh darn pros when it comes to posting top-performing content to social media. Heck, maybe we can learn a thing or two.
Patrick Stewart fawns over an adorable pitbull he’s fostering
Which part of this video makes your heart swell more: when Ginger, the one-year-old pitbull, licks Patrick Stewart’s face, or when Patrick Stewart gushes over how beautiful and friendly Ginger is? We can’t decide, and thankfully we don’t have to.
Tom Hiddleston rocks a sombrero in Mexico
We honestly can’t remember a time when we’ve seen Tom Hiddleston wear any kind of hat, let alone a sombrero. He looks even more thrilled than his fans.
Lily Allen shared what must have been an old Myspace profile pic
There’s so much about Lily’s TBT that reminds us of our own past profile pics, ones we’ve purposefully tried to remove from both our memory and our timelines. She’s got the big sunnies, the side bang, giant earrings and a cheeky tongue bite, and to top it all off, it’s taken from that high angle we all know so well.
Carrie Underwood shares the sounds of her tickling her son
Trust us, this video might not look like much, but you’re going to want to make sure your sound is on. The sound of Carrie’s little Isaiah Michael laughing is so freaking adorable and joyful, and it’s somehow made better by the fact that we can’t actually see anything. Listen to this and just try not to smile.
Emma Watson is the Book Fairy we’ve always dreamed of
Emma Watson is our favorite bookworm celeb. For International Women’s Day, the actress went around putting books near statues of notable women in New York. This is a really good idea, and we’ve got some books we’d like to share, so keep an eye out the next time you go to a public park.
Gertrude Stein was an American novelist, poet, playwright and art collector. She was a leading figure in modernism in literature and art in the early 20th century. She wrote Tender Buttons and Three Lives, as well as work dealing with homosexual themes ✊️📚 #IWD #IWDOurSharedShelf #ADayWithoutAWoman @bookfairiesworldwide
Selma Blair is actually a “cool mom”
Unlike Mrs. George from Mean Girls, we think Selma Blair would actually be pretty rad mom — not just one who says she is. She’s clearly got skateboard skills, and she wouldn’t embarrass us by always wearing a pink velour tracksuit either.
Paris Hilton plays the Ghostbusters Virtual Reality game at Madame Tussauds in New York
We can’t say we ever pictured Paris Hilton in protective gear and carrying a laser gun, but now that we’ve seen it, we can’t picture her any other way. We’d say we’d love to play with her, but there’s something in her expression that makes it seem like she would kick our butts.
