We’re always hearing about other countries being blessed with panda babies, but now, finally, it’s Canada’s turn.
Yes, Er Shun, the giant female panda bear on loan to the Toronto Zoo from China, is pregnant with twins. A statement released by the zoo says Er Shun underwent two non-surgical artificial insemination procedures in May and earlier this week an ultrasound showed two fetal heartbeats. Squeeeeeeeee.
Now, before we get too excited, the zoo warns that “the following three to four weeks are very critical. Toronto Zoo staff are cautiously hopeful for healthy births within this time frame.” We’re cautiously hopeful as well that Canada’s going to have two healthy, fluffy baby pandas for the first few years of their lives. Can you believe it?!
We’ll get to watch them wiggle around for the first time:
Get cuddles from their lucky panda caregivers:
Once they’re big enough to venture outside, we’ll see them fall:
Don’t forget the mommy cuddles:
And the sibling play fighting:
Oh the play fighting is the best:
Don’t you think?
Ugh, we can’t freaking wait:
