What more could we ask for than cheap, yet high quality, vegetables and fruit?
In 2014, a group of volunteers started up a fresh produce store in Ottawa with a very unique feature: the store’s on wheels. Not only does the store move from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, but the produce is also 40% cheaper than produce from normal grocery stores. The mobile store, Market Mobile, is able to offer such huge discounts by purchasing the produce in bulk at wholesale prices.
Imagine how much money you’d save on out of season produce. Imagine how much more fruit and vegetables you could take home before your next pay check.
Recently, Market Mobile’s shown the world how different members of the community band together to reap tremendous benefits. More importantly, this mobile grocery store’s shown how food brings people together.
And so what if the space is small? The store’s managed to organize shelving and groceries in a smart manner to give you enough space to breathe. Market Mobile’s also run by friendly volunteers that can’t wait to have you step into the store. So don’t let claustrophobia stop you from collecting your produce at ridiculously low prices.
Check out Market Mobile’s schedule to find out when it’ll be in your neighbourhood.
