It was like a social media apocalypse yesterday, when juggernaut Twitter decided to change their “favourites” (represented by a star ★) into “likes” (represented by a heart ♡). Who knew so many people were against hearts and liking things? Seriously, the vitriol directed at Twitter was unlike anything we’d ever seen before on the platform.
Don’t believe us? Check out some of these upset tweets:

The heart replacing the star feels so INSIPID. It’s impossible to ironically ‘favourite’ something with a heart. Impossible #heartsontwitter

BuzzFeed even waded in with their interpretation of what the hearts mean. They Twitter-translated, if you will:
But there’s some good news for those people who don’t like the new hearts. A Twitter user has come up with a Chrome extension that’ll replace the hearts with the beloved stars.
There. Now, let’s focus on something that actually matters in real life.
