It was enough that Chrissy took a Twitter break.

Chrissy Teigen and Alison Roman are bringing a whole new meaning to the term food fight after their beef was made all kinds of public on Twitter. And it’s fair to say that fans of both were left with more than a little indigestion. The drama all started when Roman, a best-selling cookbook author, threw shade at Teigen’s food ventures in a new interview, launching quite the weekend feud for the lifestyle personalities. On May 8, New Consumer published an interview with Roman in which the Nothing Fancy author and NYT food columnist was asked about the fine line between consumption and pollution. Her answer, which included expletive-laden digs at fellow lifestyle personalities Marie Kondo and Teigen, both women of colour, included the idea that she doesn’t want to contribute to the world owning more stuff. "Like, what Chrissy Teigen has done is so crazy to me. She had a successful cookbook. And then it was like: Boom, line at Target. Boom, now she has an Instagram page that has over a million followers where it's just, like, people running a content farm for her," Roman was quoted as saying. "That horrifies me and it's not something that I ever want to do. I don't aspire to that. But like, who's laughing now? Because she's making a ton of f******g money," she said.[video_embed id='1907812']RELATED: Chrissy Teigen reveals one of the hardest parts of raising a daughter[/video_embed]She wasn't done: "Like the idea that when Marie Kondo decided to capitalize on her fame and make stuff that you can buy, that is completely antithetical to everything she’s ever taught you… I’m like, damn, b****, you f******g just sold out immediately! Someone’s like “you should make stuff,” and she’s like, “okay, slap my name on it, I don’t give a s***!”It didn’t take long for her comments to reach social media, and the clapback queen herself, Teigen. “This is a huge bummer and hit me hard. I have made her recipes for years now, bought the cookbooks, supported her on social and praised her in interviews. I even signed on to executive produce the very show she talks about doing in this article,” Teigen wrote on Twitter, sharing the original story and referencing Roman's cooking show that was mentioned in the interview."There are many days I cry very hard because cravings, the site, is our baby we love to pump content onto. we do this work ourselves, and there is NO monetary gain yet. it is just work work work and the reward is you liking it. so to be called a sellout....hooooo it hurts.”Teigen then wrapped the thread with, “anyhow. now that that's out there, I guess we should probably unfollow each other @alisoneroman.” Meanwhile if you thought Teigen was quick to react, her followers were even quicker to share their thoughts. Especially her celeb friends (and husband) who wanted the world to know they had her back. Following the backlash, Roman tried to walk back and clarify her comments on Twitter. “Hi @chrissyteigen! I sent an email but also wanted to say here that I’m genuinely sorry I caused you pain with what I said. I shouldn’t have used you /your business (or Marie’s!) as an example to show what I wanted for my own career- it was flippant, careless and I’m so sorry,” she wrote. “Being a woman who takes down other women is absolutely not my thing and don’t think it’s yours, either (I obviously failed to effectively communicate that). I hope we can meet one day, I think we’d probably get along.”That could have very well been it for the feud, but the internet gonna internet. Soon people started to drag both women to the point where Teigen threw up her hands and decided to take a social media break to block out the trolls. “This is what always happens. The first day, a ton of support, then the next, 1 million reasons as to why you deserved this. It never fails,” she wrote while setting her Twitter account to private. “I really hate what this drama has caused this week. Calling my kids Petri dish babies or making up flight manifests with my name on them to “Epstein island”, to justify someone else’s disdain with me seems gross to me so I’m gonna take a little break.”Count on Teigen to cancel herself before Twitter can do it for her. No word yet on whether or not Roman's forthcoming TV show is looking for a new executive producer.[video_embed id='1954072']BEFORE  YOU GO: How to make all your favourite potato chips at home[/video_embed]
