They don’t call it ICE-land for nothing.

Deep inside the country’s largest glacier lies an incredible secret. In November, photographer Mikael Buck ventured to Vatnajökull Glacier’s famous ice caves to document their beautiful bubbled walls, twisting spires and vibrant shades of blue that seem to stretch on forever. The caves can only be visited in the winter, after their rivers retract and the water freezes. Even then, eager adventurers only have a certain window of time to check them out before the glacier shifts, closing the tunnels off again.
