Victoria Beckham‘s shoe game has always been on point. No, literally, the woman likes her pointy footwear. And as far as fashion, whether it’s her own or the other designers she wears, she is one to watch. So the news that she “can’t do” heels anymore is basically the assurance we all need to ditch uncomfortable stilettos in favour of practical flats.
“I just can’t do heels any more, at least not when I’m working” she told The Telegraph. “I travel a lot. Clothes have to be simple and comfortable.”
Beckham has always been one to add inches through her shoes and over the years it’s been a wonder she hasn’t broken an ankle. Whether she was prancing around with the other Spice Girls, working at her treadmill desk wearing five-inch booties or wearing towering nine-inch platforms while schlepping her newborn baby through the streets of NYC, she always wore her heels proudly.
If you compare her recent looks to what she wore as Posh Spice, it’s kind of bananas. But the transformation over the years has actually been pretty subtle — all up until she presented her Fall 2016 collection in a baggy sweater and crisp white runners.
“I think people saw the real me when I came out in a pair of men’s trousers, a roll-neck, and trainers,” she said. It’s quite a change but if anyone can pull it off, it’s Beckham. Because even though the mom of four has finally realized that function wins over fashion, this is still VB we’re talking about. So whatever she wears is going to be stunning; just a little more casual is all. And we are totally OK with bringing flats to the forefront.
