We’re less than one week away from the Season 14 premiere of The Voice (Monday, February 26 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV) and that means it’s time for some really cute promos from this season’s coaches. Returning to the big red chairs will be Adam Levine and Season 13 winner Blake Shelton, along with former coach Alicia Keys. New to The Voice coaching line up this season is Kelly Clarkson, who appeared last season as a mentor. Oh, and she won some show called American Idol in 2002, so she knows her way around reality singing competitions.

During this month’s Super Bowl, the first commercial for Season 14 was released and featured a tongue-in-cheek look at the four coaches having an over-the-top time at a farm. Now the coaches are together again, but this time they traded the great outdoors for a 1920’s inspired jazz club.

The new music video starts off with Levine and Shelton performing Frank Sinatra’s classic “Fly Me To The Moon,” with the men taking turns on verses before singing the final few notes together. It’s a great cover, which isn’t surprising considering the long and successful careers of both singers, but what is surprising is how perfectly Levine’s voice is suited for jazz. How did we not know this?

Maroon 5 debuted their first album Songs About Jane back in 2002. Since then, the band has released a few covers of classic Christmas songs, but nothing overly jazz-inspired and we really don’t know why. Levine’s voice is that of a crooner. Why isn’t he constantly wearing dark fitted suits and making joint albums with Michael Bublé? If he ever feels like shifting musical gears, he’s got a future in old standards. As for Blake, he sounds like a country guy singing Sinatra. It’s not bad, it’s just not Bublé-esque.

The real power comes in during the second half of the video, with Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson going soaring note for soaring note with their cover of “Feeling Good,” first made famous by Nina Simone. It’s. So. Good.

Let’s hope Clarkson and Keys take a note out of last season’s coach Jennifer Hudson and her handbook, which was to sing during every episode. Coaching is nice; singing is better.

Season 14 of The Voice premieres Monday, February 26 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV and CTV GO.
