All of us nerdy kids that grew up in the ’90s know that Bill Nye was the ultimate source for understanding the mysteries of the universe (sorry, Beakman.) He always found simple, fun ways to help us understand both little and big things that affect our everyday lives.

Now, 17 years later, “The Science Guy” is back to teach us another interesting lesson about how we dream. And since it’s 2015, he’s using a bunch of emojis, because how else do you reach kids, huh? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In the most recent episode of his Mashable web series Bill Nye Explains with Emoji, the lovable bow-tied scientist (and about 150 emojis) explains exactly what goes on with us humans while we’re dreaming. He covers everything from rapid eye movement to…um…non-rapid eye movement.

It’s so good to see Bill Nye teaching us science again. We’re just oozing with Nye-stalgia!

Watch his short lesson above. He even has his own emoji now!
