Jimmy Fallon just proved that ring avulsion surgery could never tame his rock-and-roll spirit.

The finger-busted Tonight Show host was in the crowd for U2‘s concert at Madison Square Garden last night and was playing the role of a super-fan. Fallon was standing in the front row, hand cast and all, wielding a sign that read “Singer with a broken finger.” Of course his longtime Irish rock star pals took notice, and brought him up on stage, to the delight of the New York populace.

Along with the band, Fallon busted out his best Bono impersonation for a rendition of the U2 classic “Desire,” and he totally nailed it!

I love you @U2. I love you NY. #U2ieTour

After using every bit of rock-star energy he could muster up for the vocal performance and signature harmonica solo, Fallon surprised the audience by bringing out his house band The Roots for a mega-performance of another classic, “Angel of Harlem.”

It was a most definitely an epic concert cameo. You gotta watch Fallon and his pals tear the house down in the video at the top o the article.
