Lately, late night TV talk shows have had to get a little creative with their interviews after switching to an at-home format amid the global pandemic, but we have to give major props to Jimmy Kimmel for deciding to just interview his neighbour over the backyard fence. And because this is Hollywood dahhhling, one of his neighbours just so happens to be actress Dakota Johnson. What luck! When you live in the Hollywood Hills though, you really can’t walk to a block without bumping into a dozen celebs.“I was just about to wet my plants!” the 50 Shades of Grey star announced as she popped up over the backyard fence wielding a garden hose. She also just so happened to be gardening in a fuchsia ballgown (as one does) but admitted later that the task isn't quite as glamourous as it looks.“It's hard to wear this,” she joked, trying to adjust the massive mattress-sized shoulders. “It's one of those things—it seemed fun at the beginning and now...  it smells like feet! I think it came from like a bizarro runway somewhere.” Whatever the origin, the gardening in a ballgown thing is a whole #mood.
Their convo over their luscious physical-distance-ensuring fence, which was loaded with a lot of sauciness (Dakota, Queen of the Surprise Deadpan, had some epic one-liners like, “It’s the highlight of my day when anyone says ‘penis,’” and “When bush comes to shove”), contained some interesting trivia about Dakota’s life growing up. She had some anecdotes about her father Don Johnson and his bestie/neighbour eccentric journalist Hunter S. Thompson.“He used to come into the driveway at like three o'clock in the morning and shoot his gun off to let us know that he was there.” Having seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, we have to say, yup, that sounds like something Hunter S. Thompson would do. Dakota also talked briefly expanded on her reveal from earlier in the week that her grandmother, Tippi Hendren still owns more than a dozen tigers. What a life![video_embed id='1962494']RELATED: Here’s how Dakota Johnson is dealing with depression in quarantine [/video_embed]Of course, what's an over-the-fence chat without a goss-fest about the neighbours on the other side of the house? Turns out, the cranky neighbours had Dakota’s grandfather’s truck towed. “And they never owned up to it!” she exclaimed. “Do you remember that night? That was nuts. I lost my mind!”“They did tell me that it was them,” Jimmy admitted. Now that's a Hollywood scandal. This isn’t the first time Dakota has bemoaned her other neighbours. A few months ago, she let Architectural Digest come into her home for a video tour, and when she was showing them around the backyard, not far from Jimmy’s property, she said, “My neighbours on that side are in a war with me about how high the bamboo in the driveway is growing; which is insane because why would I want people to be able to see in my house? I can't believe that I'm even letting you guys in my house! So they can just shove it.”Now we have a better idea of why they maybe towed the truck.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: This little girl doesn't like to be called a baby anymore [/video_embed]
