Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to hike from Mexico to Canada?

Photographer Andy Davidhazy can tell you all about it. The Texas resident recently conquered the mighty Pacific Crest Trail — a rugged, 4,200 kilometre stretch from Campo, CA to Manning Provincial Park in British Columbia. And even though it took five and a half gruelling months of winding through forests and scaling desert cliffs to do it, Davidhazy still found time to capture a quick selfie after each individual mile of the trip. By the end of the journey he looks like you’d expect him to: worn, weathered and ready for bed.

But his collection of selfies also captured something else; a total transformation. Davidhazy is visibly slimmer at the finish line, having lost a total of 50 pounds (not to mention wearing through five pairs of shoes!). He’s also seen both growing and removing a pretty mean beard at one point.

The photographer put all of his images together in a video he uploaded to YouTube. You can check it out above.
