Cosmo, who in the past few years has garnered an unfavorable reputation for ridiculous and nearly impossible sex positions (exhausting just about every penetrative technique and sex toy in your pantry), has recently done something truly original for the publication by offering its first-ever sex guide exclusively for lesbian and bisexual couples.
Best known as an unofficial Sex Bible for female youth, Cosmo’s foray into the gay/lesbian market is a sure-sign of societal progress and acceptance. The illustrated guide, titled 28 mind-blowing lesbian sex positions includes step-by-step instructions for 28 girl-on-girl positions that include: The Hot Hair Salon, The Passionate Pole Dancer and The Classic Scissor. Some of these imaginative positions require toys such as vibrators and strap-ons, but most are doable with your own anatomy.
Since its premier issue in 1886, Cosmo has acquired 1.6 million readers and has become the largest young women’s magazine in the entire world. They’ve noticeably released more queer-focused content in the passing months to express that they, the leading sex publication in the world, is keeping up with the times and human sexuality; suggesting their readers should as well.
However, some of the positions, as Cosmo is known to do, are seemingly far-fetched and could land you a guest spot on Sex Sent Me to the ER. Take Over The Edge (#27) for instance:
Have your partner create a bridge, with her upper back on the bed and her feet on the floor. Straddle one of her legs (put your outside knee on the bed and hold her hands for leverage) and grind your pubic bone against hers.
In case you don’t want to check out the complete guide (the photos, while just illustrations, are quite graphic), I’ve listed three of the better positions below:
The Tawdry Tire-Swing: Sit on your partner’s lap with your back to her. From here, she can finger you and you can finger her, all while you swing your hips back and forth along her pelvis.
The Sexy Spider: Have your partner sit on a chair. Straddle her so you’re facing each other and start with a steamy makeout session. From here she can reach around and penetrate you with her fingers or you can grind your pubic bone against hers.
The Sultry Spoon: Lie in spooning position behind your partner and reach your top arm over to finger her clitoris. If you want to get in on the fun, have your partner reach back and finger you too. Feel your way around makes it that much hotter.
So there you have it. Cosmo’s made their statement, now you make yours. Tell us your opinion on Cosmopolitan‘s bold take on lesbian/bisexual sex in the comments below.
