To say the competition was fierce in The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘s lip sync battles this year would be a complete understatement. Good ol’ 2015 saw a star-studded group of celebs taking our lovable late-night host to the lip sync limit with no end of show stopping performances. But which battler truly stood out above all the rest?

In an effort to crown the ultimate Tonight Show lip sync battle champion of 2015, we decided to rank each of the competitors from worst to best, based on the following criteria: charisma, dance moves and, of course, overall sex appeal.

Ready to find out who owned the mic?

4. Lena Dunham

Dunham certainly brought some competitive ferocity to her battle with Jimmy this past summer. She was visibly passionate about her Calvin Harris and Queen covers, but let’s be honest, she could have done way better. It felt like something was missing. Fallon stole the show on this one.

Charisma: 3/5
Dance moves: 2/5
Sex appeal: 3/5
Final score: 8/15

3. Ellen DeGeneres

DeGeneres proved to be solid lip sync competition for Fallon in September. She performed a ridiculously dramatic, seated rendition of Diana Ross‘ “Do You Know Where You’re Going To.” It was hilarious. But the real gold was her decidedly more aggressive rendition of Rihanna‘s “Bitch Better Have My Money.” Both performances were surprisingly lacking in the dance department, but we give her bonus points for theatrics.

Charisma: 5/5
Dance moves: 2/5
Sex appeal: 2/5
Final score: 9/15

2. Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart

Kevin Hart, John Legend and Katy Perry‘s lip-syncing was good, but Will Ferrell totally stole the battle with his extra dirty performance of Beyonce‘s “Drunk In Love” and an epic rendition of “Let It Go” from Frozen. It was priceless!

Charisma: 5/5
Dance moves: 5/5
Sex appeal: 2/5
Final score: 12/15

1. Tom Cruise

We should have seen it coming, but it’s been a while since we’ve watched Risky Business, so it caught us a big off guard. But Tom Cruise totally ruled over all of the other lip-sync-battle competitors this year. His Righteous Brothers performance was incredible on all fronts, and let’s be honest, his Weeknd rendition packed some serious heat. Way to go, Tommy Boy! Perfect score.

Charisma: 5/5
Dance moves: 5/5
Sex appeal: 5/5
Final score: 15/15

Bonus: And the best lip sync performances of all time are…

[Drum roll, please…]

Emma Stone, “All I Do Is Win”

Stephen Merchant, “Single Ladies” and Joseph Gordon Levitt, “Super Bass”

So much passion. So much committment.

Paul Rudd, “Don’t Stop Me Now”

Catch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon weeknights at 11:30 p.m. ET on CTV Two.
