When it comes to certain things in life, almost everyone has an opinion. Things like marriage. Careers. And of course, babies. As any new parent will tell you, advice during this “special time” is comparable to wine: it’s free-flowing and one can never quite tell when they’ve been served enough.

So we were obviously tickled a pinot-pink by this latest BuzzFeed video (above), which puts unsolicited parenting advice out there into perspective: we don’t like getting so much of it because it makes us feel bad about our own skills. But darned if we don’t dole it out ourselves in the best-intentioned way possible.

So what kind of advice are we talking about here? It seems as though everything is on the table in the video, including suggestions on co-sleeping (Do it! Don’t do it, your kid will be needy!) vaccinations, whether they should watch TV (not before the age of three unless is a foreign cartoon!) and scary sleeping positions. Oh, and did we mention noise machines, “sleeping when baby sleeps” and drinking while breast feeding?

Then there’s the truly weird stuff, which we hope was included only for the sake of this video. Such as blowing smoke in the baby’s face, putting it in lettuce baths and allowing him or her to eat dirt. Okay actually scratch that last one — we’ve heard that too. It builds up their immunity, you know.

Anyhow, it’s worth a watch — whether you’re expecting, have just given birth or are a parent in general. Odds are you’ve heard most of these gems, and have probably given out a couple of them yourself.
