Look, we hate paying bills as much as the next guy, but that’s the way the world works. So what lengths would you go through to avoid forking over the cash? Would you pay it up or risk death? Well, a man in Guizhou, China chose the latter when trying to avoid paying his hotel bill. His brilliant idea? To cross a telephone wire from what’s been estimated to be the 19th floor to get to the next building.
Unfortunately, the dude’s no Spider-Man. And based on how unsteady he was while struggling to cling to the thin, swaying wire, this clearly wasn’t a publicity stunt for a high-wire act.
Spoiler alert: he didn’t make it. But, don’t worry, he didn’t die either. Rather, he ended up trapped between two wires, and needed to be rescued by firefighters. He was then arrested by the authorities right after being rescued.
Mashable reported that the man was near some high-voltage power lines that could have seriously hurt him. But clearly, he wasn’t thinking about potential hospital bills; only the all-too-certain hotel bill. And although the price of his hotel bill is currently unknown, it must have been a hefty one — especially considering how he put his life on the line to escape it. Or maybe he just doesn’t like to pay for things, and is the kind of person who dines and dashes, or tries on clothes and leaves his old ones behind.
In this case, however, there had to have been a better way to ditch the bill than leaping out of the building. Not to give anyone ideas, but couldn’t he have just thrown his essentials into a backpack and, well, walked out of the front entrance? It would’ve been so much easier.
