We can all agree that ultrasound pictures are weird, right? We mean, it’s cool to see the baby and to follow the development in the womb and all, but it takes a while for them to look like actual babies.

And then there are those ultrasound pictures that you just can’t shake. Like this one above, posted by an Imgur user.

At first, it looks as though the image is a regular old ultrasound pic. But shift your gaze to the right. Do you see it? See it now? There is totally a demon looking over babe. Creepy AF, right?!? Some of the commenters certainly seem to think so.

“Pretty sure that is a Weeping Angel….don’t blink fetus!”

“Well that shit actually scared me. Had to check my room with the phone’s light just to make sure there wasn’t anybody here :(”

“Everyone’s seeing a demon, but come on. That baby is peeing!”

Of course it’s actually quite common for us to see images of deities and demons in other images. There’s a term for it and everything — pareidolia. And basically it refers to our brains tricking us like when we were kids and we’d find images in the clouds.

According to scientists, it all comes down to human nature and our ability to spot patterns and seek out familiar shapes and images. It’s why we seek out important images like smiling faces or a raised voice, but also “why we see things like Jesus in our grilled cheese sandwiches or aliens on Mars.”

The bottom line? We’re pretty sure that this little fetus is going to be okay. But in the meantime, we may go to bed with a nightlight on tonight.
