Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper have never been shy about their admiration for one another. The A Star Is Born co-stars have literally and figuratively been singing one another’s praises at film festivals and in interviews for the past year, doing an intense press tour that felt like it culminated with Sunday night’s performance at the Academy Awards, marking the first time the pair have performed the song “Shallow” together live on television. It was beautiful. It was stunning. It was hella awkward if your name is Irina Shayk. Scratch that. It was awkward for everyone.
Cooper and Gaga’s friendship has always been one that is full of love and support, but if there was a room of 100 people watching the two perform “Shallow” on Sunday night, 99 would think they were romantically involved. And all 100 would think that Gaga is now pregnant with Cooper’s child based on this look alone. Medical books would have to be rewritten because we’ve convinced that was a baby-making look.
We know, we know, the pair are just close friends. Very close. And contrary to what Nora Ephron had us believe in When Harry Met Sally, men and women can be friends. We just feel like Cooper and Gaga are more than that. It doesn’t help that Gaga ended her engagement to Christian Carino this month. Like, we were all thinking it, right? As for Cooper, he attended Sunday’s Oscars with girlfriend and supermodel Irina Shayk.
The pair share a daughter and because of that we hope things are still going strong, but either Shayk is a very understanding, very confident partner, or she’s not watching the same performance we just watched…
…because that was a lot.
So many looks.
We don’t look at our friends like that.
We barely look at our partners like that.
Is this the world’s smallest piano bench? We think so.
Here it is again in black and white, because everything is sexier in black and white.
Was Gaga about to fall off the bench? Was the pair paying homage to Oscar-winner Titanic and proving that two people can in fact fit on a small piece of wood if they’re deep enough in love?
One more verse and it would have happened.

Following the pair’s performance, Gaga and Cooper returned to their seats and Cooper remembered he had a girlfriend, embracing Irina and his co-star Sam Elliott. So, maybe he’s just an affectionate guy. Really, really affectionate. Na-na-na-naaaaa-nate.
Something major just happened. After “Shallow” perf, @ladygaga & Bradley Cooper exited stage for commercial break. During break, they came back to their seats from stage then audience gave them another standing o. I’ve never seen that happen for any performers. Cue embrace#Oscars pic.twitter.com/k9wNh66tn1
