Disney has been giving us lots of sneak peeks into the live-action world of Beauty and the Beast and we will happily grab hold of any piece of footage we can get. Up until now, we’ve only heard Emma Watson sing but we hadn’t seen her in action, and as we all know, seeing is believing. Well, you can check that off your list because the studio just released the scene we’ve all been waiting for.
In the latest clip from the remake, we get a glimpse of the film’s opening musical number, as Belle strolls through the village and the townsfolk sing around her. Watson only has a few lines but her voice is as lovely and as sweet as we hoped.
Now, if you’re a Beauty and the Beast nerd, two things may have stood out: First, Watson’s Belle doesn’t have her nose buried in a book so she appears less distracted this time around — which is odd because that’s the whole point of the “Belle” sequence. And second, Belle doesn’t seem as enthusiastic about the book she just finished as she does in the animated classic, which is how we get some insight into her personality and her passion for reading. Not exactly sure how to feel about that, but we think we’re going to be fine.
Beauty and the Beast opens in theatres on March 17 and can’t believe we’re finally able to say this but it’s less than a month away, woo hoo! Soon enough, we’ll find out what else they may have changed.
