Remember the good old days, when you could go through a nasty breakup and your biggest concern was how you’d get your favourite t-shirt back since there was a good chance you’d never see each other again? Now, every time you flip through Instagram or browse Facebook there’s a pretty good chance you’ll catch a glimpse of the one that got away, or even worse, the new love that managed to catch them.

We’re all guilty of it; stalking a former flame on social media. We all know better too, but it’s just too easy these days, and too hard not to. We want to know what we’re missing, or better yet, confirm that we’re not missing anything at all. One click turns into 10, and before we know it we’ve fallen down the proverbial social media rabbit hole and by the time we claw our way out it’s 3 a.m. and we know more about our ex’s potential new partner than we know about most of our co-workers.

The video (above) perfectly captures that brutal moment when your heartbreak finds its second wind just as you think you’re finally over it.

Sometimes though, we get lucky and find exactly what we need to get that final bit of closure and lock the door. Or, you know, finally have the guts to block them for good.
