In what one could call a royal perfect storm, Duchess Meghan, Prince Harry, Beyoncé and Jay-Z found their way to one another. After some open gushing about Meghan on Bey’s part, the Duchess and the Queen had their first encounter at The Lion King premiere and it was magical. You could almost feel the love Sunday night.

We all knew it was going to happen, the Palace confirmed that Meghan would definitely be attending the London premiere, her first red carpet as a royal, as it doubled as a fundraiser for Harry’s conservation work through the Royal Foundation. As Harry and Meghan went through the celebrity lineup, which also included Sir Elton John, all eyes were on the royal couple as they neared Beyoncé and Jay-Z — and it couldn’t have gone any better. Not only did they actually greet each other but all kinds of protocol was broken as Bey put her arm on Meg’s shoulder. Though it could be argued that Meghan leaned in for a hug so it was simply a moment of perfect timing. Though imagine if someone dared to tell Beyoncé about her common behaviour? No, they wouldn’t dare. Because Bey can embrace anyone she wants to embrace.

Baby talk

Bey and Jay appeared fairly starstruck to finally meet Harry and Meghan, something you don’t see often, and they all seemed quite charmed by each other. If these four went on a double date, no one would blink. Because in that brief but awesome moment, they genuinely seemed to enjoy one another’s company. To be a fly on the wall (bug on the carpet?) to know what they talked about for those precious moments. Well, Daily Mail‘s royal reporter, Rebecca English, snagged some audio of the “baby chat” and you can make out Beyoncé referring to Meghan and Harry’s son, Archie, as “beautiful,” and that they left their kids at home for the trip across the pond.

It was in February, several months after Meghan and Harry announced they were expecting, when Bey couldn’t hide her admiration for the Duchess of Sussex. During her and Jay’s BRIT Awards acceptance video in February, they posed in front of a portrait of Meghan, a move which was taken from their “APESH*T” video, which featured the couple standing in front of the Mona Lisa, er, Meghan.

Middleton sandwich

It was quite a busy weekend for Meg, who also attended the Wimbledon Women’s Final to cheer on her pal, Serena Williams. While her girl lost, the rest of us won as it was a repeat of last year with Meghan sitting next to sister-in-law Duchess Kate. But what made it even better was Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, was on Meg’s other side. A Middleton sandwich!

This evening, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended #TheLionKing European premiere in London at the Odeon Theatre. In celebration of the film’s release, The Walt Disney Company announced #ProtectThePride, a global conservation campaign to support efforts protecting the rapidly diminishing lion population across Africa. As a part of their commitment to this cause, Disney also made a donation to The Duke of Sussex’s upcoming environment & community initiative which will be formally announced this autumn. The Duke and Duchess are committed to advancing conservation efforts across Africa and around the world, and working with communities to ensure a sustainable future for the planet. This evening Their Royal Highnesses had the pleasure of meeting the cast and creative team behind the film, as well as supporters of @africanparksnetwork, of which The Duke is President.
