Whitney Houston is returning to the stage next year to perform her hits. Kind of.
In the creepiest news of the week thus far (we know it’s early days, but still!), it was announced that a hologram of Houston has been created and it will be embarking on a greatest hits tour in 2016. It will also be performing for a live concert film. We’re not kidding!
Alki David’s Hologram USA revealed that they created a hologram of the late pop/R&B legend that will perform for our viewing pleasure at “a major U.S. venue” next year. The show will stream on their video affiliate channel FilmOn, after which they’ll send the hologram Whitney out on tour.
Apparently Whitney’s family is completely on board with the spooky video projection tour. According to Pat Houston, the late singer’s sister-in-law and the head of her estate, “It’s a great opportunity for her fans to see a reinvention one of the most celebrated female artists in history and to continue a legacy of performances that will not be forgotten in years to come.”
Similar performances featuring holograms of Billie Holiday and Selena were also previously announced.
Would you pay to see a hologram of Whitney or another late artist sing?
